Thanksgiving Tournament

From Kevin Johnson (BAPA President)

November 15 and November 17 have been selected as the dates for a fun Pickleball tournament to celebrate Thanksgiving.  This tournament is sponsored by BAPA and will be held at Homecourt on those dates.  This tournament will follow the traditional model used by BAPA for tournaments for a number of years.

The first half of the tournament will be a round robin random draw tournament.  In each round you will be assigned a different partner.  Games will be limited by score and time.  I.E. play to 11 points or 10 minutes whichever comes first.  Each player will participate in 5 games in the Round Robin round.

The top players in the Round Robin Round will participate in the second round which will be single elimination bracket play.  Your partner in this round is determined by the points scored in the Round Robin Round.  You will play with this partner throughout the bracket round.
Players will be placed into four divisions based on USAPA defined skill levels.  These levels are defined as 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0+.  You do not need to be a USAPA member or have an official USAPA rating to sign up for the tournament.  (See the rating descriptions below).  There will not be a split based on gender or age.
Two Divisions will play each day.  Which date each division will play will be finalized based on entries.
Entry forms will be available at Homecourt during the next two weeks.  The forms will be on a clipboard and kept in the Pickleball shed or placed on a table near the courts.
Mike Dougherty will be the the tournament director for this tournament.  If you are unable to signup at Homecourt entries can be emailed to him at
Include your name, phone number, email address and which days you will be available to play.
We will also need a number of volunteers to help with the tournament each day.  We would appreciate it if you volunteer to help on the day when you are not playing.
In the spirit of the holiday we will plan to collect food donations and cash donations for a local food bank.
Hope to see you all there!
Keep Your Paddles Up
